Wedding Photography at Glenskirlie Castle

Well the wedding season has now well and truly kicked off, so I thought it was high time I updated my blog. I had a few weddings to photograph in March, the weather was a little chilly and windy however we managed to get outside for some photographs at all the weddings.

I thought I would post a few photographs from the wedding of Gemma and Alan at Glenskirlie Castle, it was the first time I have been to this venue for three years but it was great to be back. Its lovely inside and out with great helpful staff. The bridal suite is amazing with plenty of space for a photographer to move around for a good angle while remaining discreet.

The weather was cold and blustery, but this didn’t dampen peoples spirits and a great time was had by all. We managed to get outside and go for a little wander in the grounds to get some nice bride and groom photos as well as getting a big group photograph of everyone at the wedding outside at the back of the castle.

It was nice to get inside into the warm, we nipped up to the bridal suite to do another little photo shoot up there. The stairway leading up there is always great for some photos, then inside the suite there are nice mirrors and pieces of furniture that all lend themselves very well to bride and groom photographs.

There are plenty of other spaces inside that lend themselves well to photos, so we shot most of the family and friend photographs in one of the rooms with amazing contemporary stained glass windows.

As always the speeches are a great time to capture expressions and little candid natural moments. I like to keep discreet at this time using a long lens and moving around the back of the room, this works well to capture those moments when guests don’t realise they are having their photo taken. Also this helps not to distract whoever is giving a speech at the time, by having a camera pointed at the from a few feet away.

The great day was rounded off with some enthusiastic dancing. I’m now looking forward to working on their album design!
